History of the Luso-American Education Foundation’s Annual Golf Tournament.

The Luso-American Education Foundation’s golf tournament began in 1997 and became an annual event and the major fundraiser for the Luso-American Education Foundation. Profits from the golf tournament support the Foundations Scholarship Program as well as other cultural activities.

In 2007 the name of the golf tournament was changed to the Sam Pelicas Memorial Golf Classic in honor of Sam Pelicas who was instrumental in starting the fundraiser activity and who served on the golf tournament committee from 1997 to his death in 2007. In 2019 the name was changed again in memory of Manuel Rosario who also served on the golf tournament committee from 1997 to his death in 2019. The new name of the golf tournament is the Pelicas/Rosario Memorial Golf Tournament.
