Annual Conference on Education and Culture.

The first Conference on Education and Culture was first held in 1976.

The purpose of this annual conference is to: (1)reinforce the bonds between the Portuguese community and the educational and cultural institutions engaged in the teaching of Portuguese language and culture and bring together community members, teachers and students to discuss the future of Portuguese programs in California; (2) provide a forum for exchange of modern communication and networking ideas for Portuguese and Portuguese-Americans and establish links within California and other Portuguese communities; (3) to give Portuguese-Americans an opportunity to connect with their roots through workshops that focus on culture, history and literature, etc.; (4) to celebrate the achievements of the Portuguese community and assess the future trajectory that will ensure its continued strength and growth.
