Luso-American Education Foundation Fraternal 20-30’s & Adult College Guidelines & Application

The Luso-American Financial – A Fraternal Benefit Society is dedicated to helping our members to attend and succeed in the educational arena. The Luso-American Fraternal 20/30’s and Adult Scholarships are administered and maintained through the Luso-American Education Foundation (LAEF).

The Luso-American Fraternal offers numerous membership Scholarships. All applicants must….

  1. Be a member and policy holder in good standing for a minimum of 2 years.
  2. Be between the ages of 18 to 39.

Applicant may apply for multiple scholarships but only one will be awarded

  • (B-1) John L. Avila Memorial Scholarship; a one-time non-renewable scholarship of $1,500.

Requirements:

  1. Graduate Student
  2. Must be active/participating member in their 20-30 region

Requirements:

  1. Graduate Student
  2. In need of financial aid to enter, re-enter or continue a graduate program.
  • (B-3) Fraternal 20-30’s Financial Aid Scholarship; a one-time non-renewable scholarship for a $500.

Requirements:

  1. In need of financial aid to continue working on their current degree
  2. Must be 3rd or 4th year student with a declared major at a 4 year college or university OR attend a vocational school or specialty job training program
  3. Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Applicant must not be a direct descendant of the donor

Requirements:

  1. Minimum GPA of 2.5
  2. Must be at least 21 years of age to apply
  3. Applicant must meet at least one of the following requirements:
    1. in need of financial aid to continue to attend a community or four-year college/university to provide for a career change.  
    2. in need of financial aid to attend a trade/business school, vocational school program or a specialty job training
  • (B-5) SPRSI 20/30’s College Scholarship – a non-renewable scholarship. Amount may vary.

   Requirements: 

  1. Currently attending a four-year college/university
  • (B-6) SPRSI Re-Entry to College or Vocational School – a one-time non-renewable scholarship. Amount may vary.

     Requirements:

  1. College career was interrupted or postponed
  2. Completed 12 units and currently a four-year college/university student

  General Instructions

  1. DEADLINE for scholarship applications is MARCH 1st.
  • Questions about the application and/or scholarship requirement, please call the Foundation Office at (925) 828-3883 or e-mail education@luso-american.org
  • The application and following items must be postmarked or received in our office by MARCH 1st for the application to qualify and reviewed by the scholarship committee. Your application will not be considered if these items are not received.
  1. Completed Scholarship Application
  2. Your most recent official school transcript required.
  3. One Letter of Recommendation from a Personal Acquaintance, Teacher, Counselor, or Luso Adult Officer.
  4. Most recent wallet sized photo of yourself (photo can be also e-mail to education@luso-american.org , but must include your full name.
